Introduction to Health & Safety
Course No: HS101
Introduction
Did you know that all employers and self employed people are obliged, by legislation to perform risk assessment to demonstrate that they are controlling hazards in the workplace and complying with relevant health and safety law? Risk assessment really is the first step to successfully managing health and safety. If you have not identified your significant risks, how do you know what you are trying to manage? Furthermore, if you employ five or more people the risk assessments must be documented. But what is a risk, how do you assess it, and what format should you use to record it? Some employers ignore the requirement because it looks too daunting, others attempt to do it but get bogged down in the process by being over complicated.
Objective
The aims of this workshop are to introduce you to a simple five step approach and give you the tools needed so that you can confidently return to your place of work and start the risk assessment process right away. If you require any further assistance with identifying workplace hazards or legal requirements then help is going to be at hand as and when you need it.
