Understanding the Grievance & Disciplinary Process

Introduction
Being able to deal with grievance and disciplinary situations effectively and professionally is vital for reducing the risk of employment tribunal claims. This workshop aims to provide the delegate with the knowledge and confidence to deal with grievance and disciplinary situations effectively.
Objective
The workshop is designed to enable participants to be able to:
- Become familiar with the ACAS code of practice regarding disciplining of staff and the grievance procedure
- Discuss the principles underlying any sound disciplinary policy and the benefits of having a policy
- Look at the policy in detail
- Develop listening and questioning skills
- Understand the importance of preparation
- Use some scenarios to consider how to use the policy in practice
- Appreciate the need to manage the interviewees performance after the interview
Audience
Newly appointed supervisors, managers and any professionals who may have responsibility for dealing with grievance and disciplinary situations.
