360 Degree Feedback

Everyone benefits from an honest opinion of their work and interaction with others. By recognising areas for improvement everyone in an organisation can enhance their personal contribution and hence the organisation benefits.

So what is 360 degree feedback?

Typically organisations appraise people by asking the line manager to provide a perspective on an employee. This is useful but there are limitations. A manager cannot know about everything that happens within the workplace - the interaction - the helpfulness - subordinate relationships......

 

So 360 degree feedback is a way of getting a view of performance and individual characteristics from anyone an individual comes into contact with: Peers, subordinates, managers, even customers. Individuals choose who will give the feedback and we provide advice on how to make good choices.

Are there any specific technical requirements?

The most cost effective surveys are electronic and online. That means there must be access to the internet and email. If your organisation doesn't have access to these, or there are some people people who don't have access, then we are happy to provide costs for paper based surveys.

How does it work?

Our team of HR professionals are able to work with you to develop a feedback programme. We will agree critical performance areas for your business and develop a set of feedback responses. The feedback can be scale rated using a number of methods (eg low - medium - high, room for improvement - good - excellent) and can also include free text comments.

 

You provide us with a list of people who are going to receive feedback (subjects) and those who are going to give the feedback (respondents). We provide a simple spreadsheet for this.

 

We email the subjects with instructions on how to select respondents. The subjects click a link in the email which goes to our online selection system. There the subject chooses who he/she would like to give the feedback.

 

We then email respondents with a link which takes the respondents to our secure server where feedback can be given.

 

Once all feedback has been received we generate reports and make them available as requested.

How can the feedback be used?

Some companies simply provide the feedback directly to the individual.Its then up to the individual to choose what to do with the feedback.

 

Other organisation's prefer the feedback to be handled in appraisal sessions and Picasso HR can be on hand to provide interpretation of results and guidance on how to best use the feedback for improvement.
